Planet discoveries happening too often

I remember the days that scientists still wondered if there were other planets out there that orbited different stars from our own sun. I also remember when the first few new planets were being discovered, and everybody thought it was amazing because there may yet be life out there. Now, it seems that planets are being discovered too often, and most of the planets aren’t even getting reported outside of the scientific community. Granted, most of these planets are huge, and probably couldn’t host life as we know it; but the fact that there are other planets out there does make me wonder if there is life out there besides us.
Even with all of the new technology that is coming out that allows us to see further into the distance, we still will not be able to travel to or communicate with anything that far away. The planets that have been discovered are at least hundreds of light years away, and even if we were able to travel at or close to the speed of light it would still take us hundreds of years to get there.
I’m not going to get into whether I think that faster than light travel is possible or not. I just think it is amazing that we can even spot these planets from so far away.

I can only imagine how many planets are out there. It’s amazing to think that space goes on forever. The only planet I am worried about is the one I am on! lol!
