Are Cops Better Than The Law?
By Jon | June 24, 2007
Every now and then as I am driving I will see a cop on the highway usually going a little faster then the speed limit. Everyone else of course slows down at the sight of the cop. Usually I might get a little mad and be thinking, “why does that cop get to go faster then us? Is he/she above the law?” Of course no one can do anything because its not like we can call the cops on them. They are cops! However, I usually let that stuff slide because there is nothing I can do. But the other day as my brother and I were getting off of work, I was about ready to pull onto an on ramp to get on the highway. Just then two cop cars pulled in front of me going really fast and two more pulled in behind me. Now if they had there lights and sirens on I would have been fine with it, but they did not. So all five of us (the four cop cars and me) finally get on the highway. Now I drive a sexy 1994 Ford Escort, so my car does not have that much power. As soon as I get on the highway the two cop cars behind me go into the passing lane and try to pass me. At this point the other two cop cars in front have already gone far ahead, however there is a car in front of me who sees these two cop cars get in the passing lane. The person driving the car in front of me must have also been mad that the cops were speeding, even though they arrest people for speeding all the time (hypocrites?), because he pulled over in the passing lane right in front of the cops to slow them down. I then responded to this by trying to pull up next to the guy so that the cop cars could not speed. However, I was to slow and the cop cars were able to pull around me and catch up to their partner up ahead. The funny thing was that even though they were driving just like the maniacs they arrest, they got off at the same exit ramp as me and were directly in front of me. Looks like for all there crazy driving they did not get very far at all. Now after all of that let me just say I appreciate everything the cops do to secure the safety of our roads and homes, but does that mean they are above the law and can drive just as crazy as the people they arrest?
