NBC Withdraws from iTunes
By Josh | August 31, 2007
I’m surprised to hear that NBC is canceling their sale of shows on iTunes. This will probably not only hurt iTunes, but NBC also. I don’t understand why NBC would do this, but from what I have read it is because they cannot control the price that the shows are sold for. In my opinion, 1.99 for an episode is a perfect price. I’m not going to spend anymore than that because I’d end up paying more for the season than what I’d pay to buy the DVDs.
I always buy Sci-fi channel shows on iTunes because I don’t have Sci-fi channel at my college, and my school blocks P2P so I can’t download them any other way. I liked supporting shows that I enjoyed watching using iTunes, but I guess that isn’t going to happen anymore. From what I’ve heard, NBC is going to be streaming their shows on their new video site Hulu.com. Hulu.com is currently in beta, and it seems that they will be adding commercials to their streaming videos.
As long as I can watch the shows that I enjoy, then I’ll be happy, but I’d rather watch them high quality without commercials.
