No Halo 3 on XBConnect?
By Josh | September 29, 2007
Apparently, nobody can play Halo 3 or any Xbox 360 game on XBConnect or XLink Kai. Microsoft supposedly decided to make so that anybody trying to connect to a system link game with ping higher than around 30ms would not be able to connect. It seems like they just don’t want people to play games over anything but Xbox Live. Well, Microsoft, I’d gladly pay for Xbox Live if I could connect to it. Now, you may be wondering why in the world can’t I connect to it? Well, I go to a university that evidently believes that Xbox Live is a security concern, so they completely blocked it from the network. Yes, I have tried all the tricks in the book to work around it, but there is nothing I can do. Here is a quote from my schools FAQ page:
XBox Live is not currently supported due to incompatibility with campus security standards.
That just doesn’t make any sense to me. Browsing the internet is more dangerous than going on Xbox Live. Now, I don’t work on the network so I don’t really know the reason behind it, but I know there has to be a way to get Xbox Live working. XBConnect and XLink Kai were my two other options so that I could get on and play Halo 3 with some friends from back home, but Microsoft thinks that they must get more money.
Now, before anybody goes and says “do something else,” or “do your homework,” I just thought I’d say that I hardly get the time to play video games due to being busy all the time, and I get some free time on the weekends when I would like to relax a little. My college is located in the middle of nowhere, so there really isn’t anything else to do (except go to Walmart).
