Today’s Links: TweakUAC, Google Virtual World, and Freedom Toasters

You can turn them completely off if you want to, but that probably isn’t the best idea for most people. Instead, you can download TweakUAC, which will “suppress the elevation prompts for administrators.” The program won’t install anything; it will just run in quiet mode so that you don’t have UAC bothering you every few minutes. So far, it is working for me, and I really like it. (Via Ghacks)
Google has talked with Multiverse Network about letting anyone create a MMORPG from Google Earth. You would be able to roam what looked like the real world instead of a fake world. I’m not really sure I’d like this, but it might be fun to fool around with for a while. I know that a lot of the terrain in Google Earth is flat and has no 3D buildings. This might be a good idea for those parts of the world that have 3D models, such as big cities. (Via Download Squad)
If you have ever installed Linux, you know there are different ways you can get a copy. You can download an iso image and burn yourself a CD, buy a CD somewhere, or order and wait for a free CD. Now, according to The Linux Movement, there is something called a Freedom Toaster. On the Freedom Toasters website it says they are made to make obtaining Linux and other open source software easier in South Africa. I think this would be a great idea for the U.S. to have something like this also. If Linux is made more readily available to the public, then we might see more people giving it a try.
