Starting Fresh with Firefox

I fired up my Firefox browser yesterday to find out that my BlogRush widget in my sidebar was displaying emoticons in the widget, which was distorting the colors of the widget. I have no idea why emoticons were displaying, but it was very frustrating. I even looked on other sites that were displaying the BlogRush widget, and it was rendering fine. Here is a picture below of what it looked like:
Strange, huh? I figured that it must have been some add-on or something, but I didn’t want to have to go through each one of them to figure it out. I knew that it was only my Firefox browser that was doing this because I viewed my website from other computers and they had no problem displaying the widget correctly. The way I fixed it is to create a new Firefox profile. It is a quick way to start fresh with Firefox. The only downside to this is that you have to reinstall your add-ons that you previously had installed. I didn’t mind this as long as it fixed my problem. Here is the way to create a new profile in Firefox:
- Press both the Windows key and R at the same time to bring up the Run dialog box.
- Type “firefox -p” without the quotes when the dialog box appears.
- Click the “Create Profile…” button to create a new profile.
- Follow the instructions.
Now you have a new profile created, and you can decide whether you want this to be the default profile by checking or unchecking the appropriate box. All you have to do now is reinstall your add-ons and themes that you previously had installed if you want.
