IE8 Passes Acid2 Test

By Josh | December 19, 2007

A while back I posted about the Acid2 Test and how it tells you whether your browser renders web standards correctly or not. I said how Opera rendered the Acid2 Test correctly and Firefox wasn’t that far off. The browser that was completely off was IE7. The test is supposed to render a smiley face, but when you tried to load it in IE7 it wouldn’t look like a smiley face at all.

Apparently, Opera sued Microsoft lately about IE not meeting the web standards. Now IE8 passes the Acid2 test, so I’m sure Opera feels stupid for saying what they did. I still don’t think that I will use IE. I know Microsoft has been claiming lately that their browser is better than Firefox, but I don’t believe everything Microsoft says. I’m a Firefox addict, and have been since it came out. I love the customization of Firefox, and I just can’t get used to the layout of IE.

You can find all of the details here. IE8 hasn’t been released yet, but the beta should be released sometime soon.
