Read the Best Posts with AideRSS

Web Worker Daily posted something today that really caught my attention. When you start subscribing to RSS feeds you might get out of control. You might start out with a few subscriptions, but sooner or later you might find yourself having up to 100 or more subscriptions. I have 14 RSS feeds that I am subscribed to, but there are others that I would like to subscribe to but I don’t want to start getting backed up with reading my RSS feeds.
AideRSS is an awesome tool that will filter posts based on some calculations of theirs. They give each post on a blog a PostRank, which tells you how good that post is based on their calculations. It takes into account many different things on a post like comments, diggs, and incoming links.
The cool thing is that it allows you to subscribe to Good Posts, Great Posts, Best Posts, and Top 20. This means that you don’t have to go through all of the posts yourself to see what you think is good enough to read. I like to subscribe to the Great Posts because I feel like Best Posts filters out too much. I would probably use Best Posts on a blog that I don’t read as much. Many big blog websites have 10 or more posts a day, and when you subscribe to many of these blogs you can get very backed up if you miss a day of reading. It’s nice to be able to only see the popular posts.
AideRSS is a great way to filter some blogs so you don’t get weighed down. I still encourage you to subscribe to my full RSS feed. I only post what I think would be interesting enough to read about.
