Redirect Mobile Visitors with Mowser Wordpress Plugin
By Josh | December 25, 2007
If you don’t know what Mowser is, it is a great site that generates a mobile version of a site if one doesn’t exist. Recently it got reviewed by Download Squad, who said it was better than Google Mobile. I’d have to agree with them on that. It keeps everything important while taking off things that aren’t so important. One great feature is that it leaves your Google ads on the mobile version. The Readme for the plugin says that Mowser detects whether your website is using Google Adsense and will automatically swap the ads for the mobile ads. It also says it supports using Admob on the mobile pages.
It doesn’t seem to work on my cell phone for some reason, but I can load the page in my regular browser. I also tested it in the Opera Mini Simulator available here and it worked. I didn’t have to set the plugin up at all. All you have to do it upload it to your plugins folder in Wordpress and then activate it. Once activated, it automatically inserts the code to redirect any mobile devices that may be accessing your website.
If you don’t use Wordpress and you would still like to redirect your mobile visitors using Mowser, then you could insert the code available here into the correct files. Once that is inserted, your mobile visitors will automatically be redirected to your Mowser mobile page. It’s easy and free and looks good too.
