Mobile Firefox is Coming

By Josh | January 25, 2008

Mozilla has announced that they are working on a new mobile Firefox. They are competing with the popular Opera Mini browser that is currently available for Mobile phones. This is a great idea to take Firefox mobile, but it isn’t quite ready yet.

The interface so far is very plain, but the features are great. There is an address bar, the back and forward buttons, a bookmark button, and a refresh button. One thing that looks really nice is being able to switch between up to four tabs.

They are making two versions, one for touch screen device and another for devices that use something similar to a keyboard. The keyboard operated devices will have a pointer that will be controlled by the keys, which will allow for easier navigation.

Mozilla is trying to make the mobile version of Firefox similar to Firefox 3. This means that features like typing in key words in the address bar will bring up a list of websites with addresses and titles similar to the words being typed.
