Caching the clipboard can be very useful when you need to keep track of things that you have previously copied. Sometimes I’ll have something in my clipboard that I need to paste, but then I forget to paste it and I accidentally copy something over top of it. CLCL caches what you copy to your clipboard so that you can easily go back to what you had copied before. All you have to do is keep CLCL running, and it will keep track of the 30 previous clipboard entries, although this number can be changed. Then when you need to access your previous clipboard entries, you just push Alt+C to bring up the menu.

Alternatives:

• 101Clips was the one that I recently mentioned as being my favorite. It keeps track of up to 30 entries, and it is easy to tell what an image looks like by rolling your mouse over it. I’d have to say that this is my second favorite now.
• ControlC makes your clipboard into a social site. It keeps your previous clipboard entries on its website, which you can access from anywhere. I really don’t see much of a use for this, but maybe it’s useful to somebody. It’s currently in private beta. I can give an invite to 5 people if anybody wants one.
• Clipdiary is a nice one, but it has no way of showing you what an image looks like that you previously copied. It would be my favorite program if they would fix that.

Which one’s better?
I think I’m going to have to change my favorite to CLCL due to the options that it has. You get a preview of the images that you have copied, which is a plus, and you can increase the size of the cache. There are also some plugins on the website that add extra functionality. Let me know what you think.
