Highlight and Take Notes with Diigo
By Josh | February 21, 2008
I’ve had a very busy week with school work. It’s midterm time, so I have all kinds of exams and projects. So today I went out searching for some type of Firefox addon that would allow me to highlight words and sentences on the screen as if I was highlighting in a book. Luckily, I found Diigo. I think I’ve heard of Diigo before, but until now I kind of just brushed it aside.
Diigo is a very nice tool to use for researching and taking notes online. I constantly have to read a lot online for school work, so it’s nice to be able to highlight key phrases. You can also set notes to your highlighted phrases, and you can set sticky notes to an arbitrary place on the page.

In order to get Diigo working in Firefox, you just have to download the Diigo toolbar. The only thing about installing the Diigo toolbar is that it doesn’t seem to have as many features as the Diigo bookmarklet. The Diigo bookmarklet allows you to add the sticky notes to an arbitrary place on the page. The toolbar doesn’t seem to have this feature. Also, the bookmarklets are available for Firefox, Flock, IE, Safari, and Opera.
Diigo can be accessed from any computer too, which is very nice if you are going to use a computer at the library to do some research. There are also instructions on how to import your bookmarks, and your del.icio.us bookmarks into Diigo. I’d definitely download it and give it a try even if you aren’t in school. It could be helpful for many things other than school work.

Sounds like a pretty handy program if you are in school (unlike me lol).
