Fooling Around with GreaseMonkey

Since I’m using Firefox beta 3, I’m trying only to use addons that are compatible with Firefox beta 3. Forcing my addons to work, like I showed you how to do, messes up some stuff. So the only two addons I have installed right now are the PMOG toolbar and GreaseMonkey. So today I went onto the UserScripts.org website and searched for some scripts. I really never have used GreaseMonkey much in the past, but it can be really useful when a bunch of addons don’t work.

The first script I installed was the Google Reader Unsubscribe script, which basically adds an Unsubscribe button to the top of Google Reader. This makes it a lot easier to unsubscribe to unwanted RSS feeds. I also installed Youtube Lyrics, which says that it will add lyrics if you are playing a song on Youtube. I haven’t tried that one out yet, but it looks interesting. Pagerization is another nice script that will automatically get the next page and append it to the page you are on. It only works on certain sites like Google, but it is still nice nonetheless.

One very nice script that I added was the Youtube Stop Video Download script, which adds a button above the video so that you can stop the video from downloading. The pause button on Youtube does not stop it from downloading; it just stops it from playing. I am on limited bandwidth here at my college so it is nice to be able to stop unwanted videos from downloading.

Youtube Embed is the last one that I installed. It will automatically embed Youtube videos that are linked to from any page. So say that you are browsing Digg and somebody links to a video. Well, instead of clicking through to view that video, it will be embedded right below that link.
