Ubuntu Sucked Me Back In

By Josh | March 4, 2008

I just can’t seem to stick with an operating system.  I am not always satisfied with Windows or Linux.  Some day I’m going to try Macintosh, but I doubt that will keep me satisfied.  Anyways, I installed Ubuntu over top of my OpenSuse partition that I had because of certain issues I was having with OpenSuse.  I have to say that I’m glad I switched.  I haven’t used Ubuntu since Feisty, and Gutsy has some nice changes.

Some very noticeable changes that I noticed right away was that Ubuntu recognized my Windows partitions without me having to install any ntfs software.  That was nice since I like to browse my files on my Windows system a lot.  Then of course, there are the 3d effects that you can enable without having to install anything.

I was having some issues with my graphics card, but I think that’s NVidia’s fault.  I’ve been having all kinds of issues with my video card on Vista, and I think it’s the new drivers.  The restricted driver manager installed a driver that didn’t work so well, so I installed Envy and installed the driver off of there and it worked.

I know that the new version of Ubuntu is coming out soon so I’ll be installing that once it comes out.  I’ll still be switching back and forth between Vista and Ubuntu because of certain games and programs that don’t work in Ubuntu.  Oh, and I guess I’ve changed my opinion on OpenSuse and Ubuntu.  (For right now at least)
