Backup your DVD collection with cladDVD

By Josh | April 10, 2008

Finding the right software to backup your DVD collection isn’t that easy especially since most DVD’s are protected. While there are other solutions, I found that cladDVD does mostly what I want. However, it doesn’t have any options to compress your video.

You have the option whether to backup your DVD as an AVI or DVDR. I have tested the AVI mode with one of my DVD’s and it worked fine. The DVDR option will make a complete backup of the DVD without the encryption. Of course, you shouldn’t use this to make illegal copies of movies.

If you are wanting all of the menus included in your backup, then you’ll want to use the DVDR option. The AVI option gives you one file that you can play in your video player. Free-codecs.com mentions that if you try playing the VOB files from the DVDR backup then you may get unexpected results, so use a DVD player program to play the folder with all of the VOB files.
