Paint.NET: An improved paint program
By Josh | April 10, 2008
I don’t use Paint that much to edit my pictures, but I do use it for cropping and resizing occassionaly. I mostly use GIMP for all of my picture editing needs now, but Paint.NET does a good job at improving upon what the Microsoft’s Paint program does. The nice thing about Paint.NET is its simplicity. It is laid out in much the same way as Microsoft Paint, but adds many extra features.
One nice feature is that when you open multiple images to edit it doesn’t open them in separate windows. As you can see from the screenshot below it keeps thumbnails at the top of the images that you are working on.
There are some nice effects included in Paint.NET that you couldn’t find in Microsoft Paint. Also, if you ever need any help with the software, or have some suggestions, there is an active community forum. Also, on the forums you can find a nice list of some plugins to add to Paint.NET. It’s definitely a great tool to use for some quick image editing.
