Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron Released
By Josh | April 24, 2008
If you are one of the people, like me, who were waiting for the stable version of Hardy Heron to be released, then you can download it now. I’ll probably download a copy of the alternate CD today at work and then upgrade it when I get some time tomorrow. I still don’t feel like I want to use Linux as my main OS, but I’ll keep it installed just to fool around with.
One nice feature that they included in this version of Ubuntu is Wubi. If you haven’t heard of Wubi, it allows you to install Ubuntu on a virtual partition so that you can try it out before taking the risk of creating its own partition. I used Wubi back on Feisty when it was in beta, and it worked well. I haven’t heard much about it lately though, but I’m sure there will be people who will use it.
They also decided to include Firefox 3 Beta 5 in this installation instead of Firefox 2. I think this is a good move, but I know some people may still want Firefox 2. You can always install Firefox 2 yourself if you aren’t ready yet to move to 3.
