Tag Your Music with MusicBrainz Picard

I’ve been looking around for a good music tagging program, and there are many different ones to choose from in Windows. In Linux, I just use Amarok, which is still the best in my opinion. One of the best tagging programs for Windows that I have found so far is MusicBrainz Picard. It scans your chosen folders and files and displays the tracks current information. This can then be changed manually, or you could have it lookup the information in its database.
The first thing you need to do is make sure that your music has as much information that you can give it. MusicBrainz Picard will then fill out the rest. There were a couple times that I tried to get it to tag a track, and it wouldn’t find the right metadata. It’s definitely not as good as Amarok’s automatic tagging system, but it does the job. It’s mostly good for just fixing some small errors in your music collection’s metadata.
As I am writing this post, I have found out that Winamp does infact have something similar to Amarok. If you right click on a track, you can go to Send To > Auto-Tag and it will automatically scan your track and tag it. This is a quick and easy way to tag your music if you happen to have Winamp open. Other than that, MusicBrainz Picard is a great way to quickly scan for music files and fix some metadata information.
