Firebug 1.2b1 Released
By Josh | May 22, 2008

Firebug released a new beta of the Firebug addon for Firefox. This version works well on the Firefox 3 release candidate. There are some very noticeable changes to this version compared to older versions. First, you’ll notice that the icon in the status bar has changed. The icon doesn’t show a check mark when it is enabled on a site like it did in the older version. Now, Firebug’s HTML, CSS, and DOM panels are instantly activated for each site. You cannot chose to disable them. However, the other features like Net and Script can be enabled for individual sites. This way, sites like Gmail won’t have trouble with Firebug.
In my opinion, these are great changes. I’m sure we’ll see some other improvements as they work towards the next release. I’m glad that it is working correctly with Firefox 3. It’s kind of strange getting used to not being able to enable or disable Firebug on select sites, but it is also nice knowing that Firebug is always ready.
