Fring now on the iPhone

By Josh | October 3, 2008

Fring has developed an app available through the app store that is now available for the iPhone.  It’s a great app that lets you use messaging clients like AIM, Google Talk, and even Skype for VoIP.  Another feature that I noticed was that it can also access your Twitter account.  I’ve tried out the AIM and Google Talk features, and they seem to work great.  I know some people are loving the idea of having Skype on their iPhone, although I’m probably not going to have any use for it.  However, people not wanting to use their minutes could easily make calls over their Wifi connection to another person using Skype for free.

I wish that the icon on the desktop would have a ‘badge’ that would show you the number of unread messages.  When I use the Backgrounder app that I recently talked about, I could feel my iPhone vibrate when I had a new message, but it wouldn’t show any indicator as to how many unread messages I had.  It’s worth a download, especially if you use Skype and is available in the app store.  However, I think I’m going to stick with Palringo for now.
