A List of WoW Addons
01/10/2009 // 2 Comments // Categories: Entertainment, Gaming, Mac, Software, Technology, Windows // Tags: addons, Downloads, game, gamers, Gaming, list, Software, world of warcraft, wow.I know that’s a pretty simple title for this post. I don’t feel like being creative with it, so that’s the way it’s going to stay. This post is just going to be a list of addons that I use in WoW that I really feel like they benefit my gameplay. First, here is a screenshot of my current setup on WoW.
- ActionCombat – I just recently installed this addon. I was looking for something that would notify me when rune strike was available on my Death Knight. What it does is that it displays an animation for specific events while in combat. It works with other spells for other classes, like Nightfall for Warlocks.
- Auctioneer – I almost forgot to post about this one. I’ve been using this almost the whole time that I’ve played WoW. It really makes selling things on the AH a whole lot easier. If you don’t know what it is, it scans the Auction House to give you the most up to date prices on items. Then it will suggest prices for your own items that you want to sell. I love the Appraiser feature that Auctioneer has in its recent version. It really makes posting a lot of items quick and easy. You could also use Auctioneer for finding low priced items and making a profit off of it, but I have never really gotten into that type of thing.
- AutoBar – This is one of my favorite addons that automatically makes a bar with spells and items that you will most likely use often. The feature that I really like is that it has a button for quest items so that whenever are required to use a quest item you don’t have to go searching in your bags for it.
- Bagnon – My favorite bag addon. I’ve tried other bag addons, but I like the simplicity of Bagnon. Plus it has a way to search for items in your bag by name, type, etc.
- Bartender4 – A great addon for customizing your action bars. For the longest time I had use the default action bars and never could get used to using something like Bartender4. Lately I’ve been using Bartender4, and now I find myself wishing I would have used something like it a long time ago. Plus, binding your keys to actions is extremely easy since all you have to do is /kb, roll your mouse over the button that you want to bind, and press the shortcut keys that you want to use.
- Cowtip – useful for moving the tooltip so it’s not in the way of my custom interface.
- Minimalist – This is a very useful addon. It adds a lot while not using too many resources. A couple things that I use it for are auto-repair, display quest level, move input box to the top of the chat frame, and auto-sell gray items. Click on the link for the full list of features.
- MrPlow – I just recently read about this addon over at Wowinsider.com, and it is a pretty nice addon. The only problem is that the author doesn’t seem to update it that often. I’m worried that it will stop working sometime in the near future, so if you know of an addon that is similar and updated more often let me know. What it does is it quickly sorts your items in your bags so it’s easier to find things.
- Postal – This is a good addon for dealing with all of my mail that I get from my auctions. It adds features like opening attachments from multiple mail, adding contacts, etc.
- RatingBuster – Another one of my favorite addons. This makes it so that it is easy to decide which items are better than others. It shows you in the tooltip how the item compares to the item that you currently have equipped. I use it constantly to decide whether a new piece of armor is better than a current piece.
- SexyMap – This addon has some really useful features for the minimap, but I basically use it just to give the map a cool look. You should really try it out to see what I’m talking about.
- Sunn-Viewport Art – This is a nice addition to having custom action bars because this creates space to put them. Usually your action bars take up viewing space on the screen, and sometimes the action bars, chat frame, etc. get in the way of the view area. This addon resizes the view area and makes a smaller area where you can fit the action bars, chat window, or whatever so they don’t get in the way of your gameplay.
- Talented – I really like this addon since it makes it easy to see what I need to spec into next. I usually make a build using a site like Wowhead.com; I can then upload that build to Talented and I can see how I need to spec without flipping back and forth between the browser and the game.
I have more addons than this, but these are the ones that I use most or that I find more useful. I’m always looking for new and better addons, so if you know of any please leave a comment.
